Partnered with Westernacher, American access solutions leader Chamberlain achieved a series of triumphant go-lives of SAP Transportation Management and Event Management across North America. As a result, Chamberlain Group significantly automated their transportation processes including carrier selection and tendering, increased end-to-end visibility and decreased freight spend.
“Great partners” to achieve automation.
Chamberlain Group (CGI), headquartered in Oak Brook, Illinois, is a global leader in access solutions and products. CGI designs and engineers residential garage door openers, commercial door operators and gate entry systems, and their myQ smart technology allows people to monitor and control the main entry points of their home or business from a smartphone anytime, from anywhere.
In March 2019, Chamberlain Group, with the partnership of Westernacher, successfully went live with SAP Transportation Management and SAP Event Management across North America. The project was implemented smoothly, without impacting their daily business operations over a period of 6 months. As an outcome, CGI was able to bring a high degree of automation to their transportation processes, along with improved carrier collaboration and end-to-end visibility, while reducing their freight spend.
We’d like to give sincere thanks to the Westernacher team members that helped us on this project. They’ve been great partners and have worked very hard to get us to this point.
Jackie Carpentier, Sr. Manager, Business Systems – Distribution IT Applications at CGI
Westernacher led CGI’s digital transformation efforts in their transportation process. “Their professionalism through challenges, willingness to listen, flexibility, along with making themselves available contributed to delivering a solid product to our business partners,” says Jackie Carpentier, Business Systems Manager, Distribution IT Applications, at CGI.
As a result of the project, CGI operations now benefit from effective load optimization and a variety of automated business processes including carrier ranking, selection, tendering, and cost distribution.
Full transformation. Phase by phase.
As part of an agreed upon project plan, Westernacher and CGI followed a ‘template approach’ and successfully implemented a set of critical business requirements during the initial pilot phase. Overall, the implementation was carried out in a series of “sprints” following “Westernacher Q”, Westernacher’s very own implementation methodology. This implementation strategy, a hybrid of traditional waterfall and agile, is a highly efficient implementation methodology to bring quick results and a fast ROI. It allowed the project team to remain flexible and agile, providing deliverables throughout the project timeline.
We appreciate their dedication and hope we’ll have the opportunity to work with them in the future.

In early 2020, Westernacher finally supported CGI with the template roll-out to various locations across North America. With that, we feel honored to have the opportunity to serve CGI as a trusted partner for the years to come.
“We’d like to give sincere thanks to the Westernacher team members that helped us on this project. They’ve been great partners and have worked very hard to get us to this point,” says Carpentier. “We appreciate their dedication and hope we’ll have the opportunity to work with them in the future.”
