Kwizda Agro has a long tradition when it comes to the development of crop protection products. As part of Kwizda Holding GmbH in Vienna, the company has been developing, producing and registering high-quality crop protection products since 1926. In order to ensure competitiveness on an international level, a new raw materials and finished goods warehouse was built in Leobendorf near Vienna.
Following a careful selection process for a suitable IT partner, the decision was made in favor of Westernacher Consulting. The references, such as being a long-standing SAP Gold Partner and having a branch in Austria, were convincing.
The project was launched in August 2022 with the aim of managing the logistics and warehouse processes of the raw materials and finished goods warehouse with 15 fire compartments under the requirement for materials of different storage classes.
Together with the specialists from Kwizda Agro, Westernacher Austria started the implementation of SAP Extended Warehouse Management (EWM) and Westernacher’s dock appointment solution “We schedule” to create a customized warehouse management system.
“The core function of the project was the introduction of the space-saving and efficient mobile racking technology, which is controlled via SAP EWM. The Westernacher WeSchedule solution was also added to enable the carriers themselves to book time slots for inbound and outbound deliveries,” explains Udo Steinbach, Project Director at Westernacher Consulting.
For efficient warehouse management, a special logic was developed that dynamically optimizes storage and retrieval processes with double cycles, taking into account the status of the racking system. This innovative technology makes it easier to access stored materials and significantly increases the efficiency of storage and retrieval processes.
The new Kwizda Agro raw materials and finished goods warehouse was fully handed over at the end of October 2023. In addition, the implementation of Westernacher WeSchedule ensures precise control of truck deliveries. Waiting times are minimized and costs are saved.
“We were able to rely one hundred percent on Westernacher’s budgeting and scheduling. Westernacher’s consultants were also always available to support us with their expert knowledge,” said Operations Manager Karl Heinz Ludwig, Plant Manager Thomas Salzl and Head of Logistics Walter Klein at Kwizda Agro.
With the implementation of SAP EWM and Westernacher’s WeSchedule solution, the basis for future growth and more efficient warehouse management have been created to successfully master the ever-increasing challenges of the industry.
