Founded in 1912, Illinois Tool Works Inc. (ITW) is an American Fortune 200 company that manufactures engineered fasteners and components, equipment and consumable systems, and specialty products. Westernacher started the SAP ERP implementation – a full-cycle, greenfield project covering SD, MM, FI, CO, PP, PS and WM modules of SAP ERP – in mid-April 2015. The success of this project marked our first implementation of SAP S/4HANA (then called Simple Finance).

Objectives.

  • Design full-cycle solutions to all six business units
  • Support key users in learning and adopting the new system
  • Train internal consultants to manage the system
  • Fulfill both local and global reporting requirements

Benefits.

  • Harmonized and enhanced business process flows among different business units
  • Set up new and integrated full-cycle solutions
  • Improved master data standards and processes

Highlights.

  • Introduced new harmonized solution to users who had used their old solution for years
  • Defined common process flow, integrated unique process into framework design by making use of latest SAP S/4HANA with Simple Finance
  • Huge workload and complexity in legacy data cleaning, especially the material master
  • Handled requirements from different business units, and found a common and well-accepted solution
