SAP IBP 2405 is scheduled for release on May 3, 2024, for test and demo systems, and on May 18, 2024, for production systems. Here are the top five new improvements for IBP 2405.

In addition to these top enhancements, there are several other notable improvements across various functionalities, including MRO and Network Aggregation.

For a detailed description of each change, please refer to “What’s New Viewer”.

Demand Planning – AI Enhancements
Automated outlier correction

A new algorithm, automatic outlier correction, is available. It uses machine learning to automatically detect and correct outliers that occur in the historical data.

Making sense of highly complex data is where AI excels. Moving away from classical methods, machine learning methods improve data cleaning. With the new algorithm, it will

  • Improve forecast accuracy
  • Reduce the need for statistical experts
Extreme gradient boosting enhancement.

The extreme gradient boosting algorithm can consider short-term trends. The “Consider Trend” feature uses feature engineering to create additional independent variables derived from Sales data to better handle short-term trend of the sales cycle:

  • Slope (first-order derivative or the rate of change between two consecutive sales points)
  • Slope_of_slope (second-order derivative of how the slope changes)
  • Cycle_length (counter of the short-term sales cycle)
Contextual navigation.

You can create contextual navigations from any planning view or analytics chart that you’ve created or that’s been shared with you with write access to any other component that you’ve created or that’s been shared with you.

You can then use contextual navigations to analyze the data of the source component at a more granular level. By selecting data in the source component and opening a contextual navigation, the data in the target component is filtered using the selected data and the contextual navigation definition.

Synchronized planning: Flexible constraints heuristic supporting minimum and maximum constraints.

With SAP S/4HANA 2023 feature pack1, the heuristic was enhanced to support not only target supply but also minimum and maximum supply levels. Minimum and maximum supply serve as a hard constraint whereas the target supply is a soft constraint. Exceptions are possible; for example, lot size constraints are always set higher than the maximum supply.

New product lifecycle management engine.

With the new PLM engine, you can consider reference products and Phase-in End dates (where relevant) in the following contexts:

With aggregated product assignments, applications can consider product assignments, even if those are maintained on a different level.

Live connection to SAP Analytics Cloud.

System administrators can now create a live data connection in SAP Analytics Cloud to SAP Integrated Business Planning for Supply Chain (SAP IBP).

This will allow business users to create an SAP Analytics Cloud model based on an SAP IBP planning area and consume its content, for example, in an SAP Analytics Cloud story.
