The ´Westernacher We sync / GS1´ tool is fully integrated into SAP and provides all essential functions to import product data from GS1 and centrally maintain it in SAP and with SAP modules. ´Westernacher We sync / GS1´ is a solution proven in real life. This is familiar: A tool with the look and feel of SAP. The tool will already seem familiar to you. It shows you a cockpit with the usual look and feel of SAP and supports you in all essential steps to compare, extend and create article versions in the material master.

A detailed look: This is how the Westernacher ´We sync / GS1´ tool works.

The ´Westernacher We sync / GS1´tool preferably uses the HANA database to store master data. Different formats such as Excel, XML or Clipboard can be used for exchange. The display is in tabular form or as a single display. All product information from GS1 can be verified through the user interface.

The middleware, developed by Westernacher, handles communication across system boundaries. All common technical transmission paths such as WebServices, FTP, Http (s), Email, SQL or hard drives are supported. Data in various formats such as XML, CSV, Excel, TXT, tables, BASE64 and various image types can be imported, converted, stored and processed.

To develop business rules to check, enrich, map, or pass data to a workflow, the SAP BRF + Framework is integrated. The BFR + interface allows data structures to describe their technical relationships and processes. They are then converted to ABAP and integrated into the respective SAP processes. However, many rules can also be implemented directly in the ´Westernacher We sync / GS1´ tool with less effort.

You want to recognize changes to master data immediately? You can see them in the staging areas at first sight. All differences between master and staging are visually marked. The acceptance of changes can be done either manually or automatically.

All changes in the MDI are logged and can be evaluated in the cockpit. Role definitions allow read and write permissions to be stored in every menu, table and field. Numerous pre-selection procedures, as well as filter and sort options, support the selection of the objects to be processed as well as the determination of duplicates.

Import and update easily: This is how the GDS component works.

The GDS component included in the ´Westernacher We sync / GS1´ tool takes care of the takeover and further processing of product master data from GS1. After the import, business rules are applied that convert the product from GS1 terminology to SAP MM. Now a comparison and the transfer of changed data in the GDS can be done.

For the integration into SAP MM, both the creation of an article and the update can be customized separately. All views are taken into account. Underlying reference articles can be defined. When updating an article, you can fine-tune which fields in SAP are newly created, overwritten or unaffected. This allows further article maintenance in SAP.

Product updates from GS1 are only conditionally relevant for SAP articles. The GDS visually supports the fast recognition of differences in all data fields. This hugely simplifies the update process. The export of products from the GDS master area can be done in different formats. The reporting component supports selection and export.

It's also easy to use Excel data.

A special feature of the GDS tool is the alternative import of product data from Excel. This is necessary because not all producers or distributors of products are members of GS1.
